Ever feel like you need a vacation? I’m always dreaming about my next adventure to get through a stressful work week. I’m always trying to make my home more vacation-friendly by streamlining the process of packing. Here are a few tips to make packing a breeze!

Organize your Home for Easy Packing

If you’re a frequent traveler, you’ll start to notice the items that you pack for every trip. Spend a few extra minutes to organize your home to make your next trip easier to pack for!

Have special spot for your travel items

You don’t need a whole closet dedicated to travel – a few baskets or drawers will do!  I have special spots for travel toiletries, packing items and camping items. I made it extra cute by adding these chalkboard-esque labels!

When I prep for a trip, I make a quick visit to my dedicated travel space. This is one of my favorite home organization tips because it makes the travel planning process easier and fun, too!

Alternatively, you can use your packing cubes to double up as home organizers too. Read more!

Leave certain items in your luggage

If you always pack certain items for every trip, save some time and leave it in there. This is the most practical of the home organization tips. You’ll have one less thing to think about.

Just make sure to check expiration dates on anything that might go bad, like medication or sunscreen. If you don’t want the hassle of using special drawers for your travel items, your luggage can double as that special spot!

Some common travel necessities (especially for for budget travelers) include a neck pillow, sleeping bag liner, travel towel, toiletry bag, and head lamp.

Clean all your travel items when you unpack

I know that they last thing you want to do is clean up when you get back from a trip but it will make packing for the next adventure so much easier! You don’t have to worry if something is ready to pack if you clean it right away.

Once you clean it, return it to your special spot, so that you have an instant inventory of all your stuff. In the future, you can pull what you need, instead of searching all over your house or apartment, and you know it’s ready to use!

Have less stuff

A great way to have more time to travel is to have less stuff – it makes packing so much simpler!

Before purchasing items, consider how many ways you can use it. Items that have multiple uses are great because they are versatile and take up less space.

Just like I consider what I pack, I also consider what I keep in my home. If something doesn’t serve multiple uses, think twice before buying it!
